A clever portrait with significance. Chapman presents the legendary British actor in an exciting and unique new light. The meticulous rendering of one of the world’s favourite thespians has been achieved using thousands of Euro one cent coins, a nod to The Italian Job, one of Caine’s most popular films, in which he leads a gang of cooks in stealing gold from a continental bank vault. Likewise taken from a foreign bank, fittingly in the Spanish town of Coín, the materials used capture Sir Michael in his iconic ‘Harry Palmer’ spectacles as a mature man cooly reflecting on life. Chapman suggests the alternate title ‘Sir Michael Coin’ may be more apt.
