Late C19th Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir miniature bronze bust study of Augustus Caesar. Inscribed on socle "Augusto", a nicely detailed cast study depicting the young Augustus, the first Roman Emperor. He was born as Gaius Octavius, who founded and ruled the Empire from 63 BC-14 AD. During his leadership, Augustus dramatically increased the size of the Empire and initiated a period of relative peace known as the "Pax Romana".
