Kelly Leanne Holmes

"Only recently have I started roaming the country in search of abandoned, yet inspiring architecture, and photographing these places I encounter along the way. Working in both black & white and colour, I like to take viewers inside the forsaken and derelict buildings I find and hope that they too start to think more about the forgotten history of Britain. I like to find buildings which are overgrown by nature, as if nature is consuming the buildings and taking back the land which was once theirs. The past is a very important piece of Britain, and when you stand in these grand buildings and hear nothing but silence you start to think, who walked these corridors? What criminals stood behind these doors? What type of people worked in this asylum?
Armed with just a small camera in my bag, its these messages I want to bring forward in my photographs and I hope to inspire other people too, to never forget, the real history of Britain"
